Types of Halva

Halva is a very famous dessert in Turkey and especially in many Middle Eastern countries. Since halva, which means beautiful and sweet in Arabic, has a long history, there are many varieties today. Although there were two types of halva in Ottoman times, namely flour halva and semolina halva, many types of halva emerged as a result of the development of trade, as a result of which different materials could be purchased easily. Since each ingredient added to it adds a different taste and flavor, the names of all of them are different from each other. It is cocoa halva, walnut halva, pistachio halva, milk flour halva. Although the ingredients used vary, the basic ingredients for making halva are flour or semolina, oil and sugar. Here are some types of halva;

Summer Halva

Although making summer halva is very similar to making tahini halva, it is a slightly different type of halva compared to tahini halva. There is no soapwort in summer halva. In addition, summer halva contains cocoa and plenty of walnuts. Compared to tahini halva, it has a lighter structure since the sugar and tahini ratio is lower. Since it has a light structure, it has a structure suitable for eating in summer. Ingredients needed to make summer halva;

  • 200 ml of tahini (1 cup)
  • 1 tablespoon of cocoa
  • 200 grams of granulated sugar (1 cup)
  • Half a glass of walnuts
  • 75 ml water (half a tea glass)

Palace Halva

Palace halva is for you if you are fond of your taste buds. Palace halva, which provides a different dining experience thanks to its mouth-watering structure, is also a very economical type of halva since it is made with few ingredients. Ingredients needed to make palace halva;

  • 125 grams of butter
  • 300 ml of water (1.5 cups)
  • 500 grams of flour (2.5 cups)
  • Powdered pistachios to pour over (Ideally 1 teaspoon, but you can adjust the amount according to you.)

Semolina Dessert

Since semolina halva has fewer calories compared to both other sweet varieties and other halva varieties, it is also suitable for people who pay attention to their nutrition. It is the indispensable dessert of homes with its sweet smell and its flaking consistency. Recently, it has been consumed a lot with ice cream semolina halva. Ingredients required to make semolina halva, which takes a very short time to make;

  • 300 grams of semolina (1.5 cups)
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • Pine nuts (not necessary but adds great flavor.)
  • 300 ml of water (1.5 cups)
  • 300 ml of milk (1.5 cups)
  • 300 grams of granulated sugar (1.5 cups)
  • Cinnamon (Cinnamon is also not necessary, but doubles the flavor of the halva if added while serving.)

Flour Halva

It is the easiest and most practical type of halva. Flour halva is one of the first desserts that come to mind when we say simple recipes. Like palace halva, very few materials are needed for its production. Since it is the first type of halva that comes to mind when it comes to halva, it is also known as plain halva by most people. It is an easy-to-make dessert that does not require much effort for unannounced guests. Since it has a consistency that hardens as it waits, we recommend you shape it as soon as you finish cooking. Here is the flour halva recipe;

  • 170 grams of butter (If you do not have enough butter, margarine can also be added.)
  • 300 grams of flour (1.5 cups)
  • 400 ml of water (2 cups) and 200 grams of granulated sugar (1 cup) for sherbet.
  • You can also prepare sherbet with milk. When you add plenty of walnuts in it, it will increase the flavor of the halva.

Special Cube Halva

This halva is a kind of halva that belongs to Kastamonu in Turkey. Although it belongs to Kastamonu, it has a very large place in all of Anatolia. Although it is similar to palace halva, it is slightly different in structure. The flavor of rolled halva, which has a structure that sticks to the palate and melts on the palate when put in the mouth, is something else. So how is this halva made, which belongs to Kastamonu;

  • 200 ml of water (1 cup)
  • 200 grams of powdered sugar (1 cup)
  • 5 tablespoons of margarine (you can also use unsalted butter instead of margarine.)

Although all these types of halva are very easy to make, it is not easy for a single person to make halva, as it is necessary to make a lot of halva in events such as sending off soldiers, death or birth, or in the preparation of instant halva. In such cases, instant halva machines work great. Although enough halva can be made in the fastest time with halva machines, the cutting process is still left to a single person, since these machines do not cut the halva after the halva is made.

Since it is difficult to cut large quantities of halva, halva cutting machines come to our aid at this point. With the help of Demirbas Machine halva cutting machines, you can cut from 200 grams to 2 kilograms in any position you want.
